The WOA Head2Head 130 (#H2H130) will hopefully take place biennially across the April Daylights Saving weekend, starting in 2022. It will then alternate with the WOA Head2Head 200.
Teams registration is a donation of $130 (maximum of 6 per team). All/Any profits made from this event will be donated to charity!
Groups of 10 walkers will leave the start line every 10 minutes, from 10am to 12pm. For safety reasons, we will cap the entree numbers at 130.
The challenge requires each walker to pick up at least 1kg worth of rubbish, whilst also maintaining a 5km per hour pace from start to finish (1km = 12mins), ensuring that teams will complete the 130km distance in under 30 hours.
The majority of the route has public footpaths/sidewalks, although some of the rural roads will require walkers to share the road with vehicles. Walkers will be warned of the dangers, asked to walk towards oncoming traffic, provided high vis clothing, and those doing the night stages will also be provided head torches. Route marshals and signage will also be stationed along the course to reduce the risk to the entrants. Local residents on some of the more remote roads will be contacted ahead of the event to inform them about the presence of walkers.
Walkers are to select a distance or stage/stages that they believe they can complete without dropping the pace. Walkers may complete more than one stage and two teammates can choose to walk on any one stage together (two’s company, three’s a crowd).
Each pit-swap area will have a place for walkers to prepare for, and recover from, their walk.
